General Description
The CT2561 is a 16 MHz single chip dual redundant MIL-STD-1553 Bus Controller (BC), Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) and Bus Monitor (MT). Packaged in a hybrid plug-in or flatpack, the CT2561 performs all the functions required to interface a MIL-STD-1553 dual redundant serial data Bus such as ACT4487 and a subsystem parallel three-state data Bus.
Using a single Aeroflex custom monolithic ASIC design, the CT2561 features pin-for-pin and functional CT2565 compatibility, user initiated self-test, and low power consumption.
Compatible with most microprocessors the CT2561 provides a 16bit three-state parallel data Bus and uses direct memory access (DMA type) handshaking for subsystem transfers. All message transfer timing, DMA and control lines are provided internally, thereby reducing the subsystem overhead associated with message transfers.
The CT2561 implements all dual redundant MIL-STD-1553 mode codes. In addition, any mode code may (Optionally) be legalized through the use of an external PROM. Complete error detection is provided by the CT2561 for BC and RTU operation. Error detection includes: response time-out, inter-message gaps, sync, parity, Manchester, word count and bit count.
The CT2561 is fully compliant with MIL-STD-1553, is available screened in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-883 and operates over the full military temperature range of -55°C to +125°C.

INTRODUCTION
The UT1553 RTMP (figures 1 and 4) is a monolithic, CMOS, VLSI integrated circuit that meets all requirements for a dual-redundant MIL-STD-1553 Remote Terminal interface. The RTMP’s advanced design supports both MIL-STD-1553A and MIL-STD-1553B serial data Bus protocols, including differences in the status word response time and bit definitions, providing the system designer a single-chip solution to most Remote Terminal interface requirements.
The UT1553 RTMP provides all requisite 1553 protocol and data handling, 1553 message error checking, DMA handshake and control signals, and comprehensive self-test capabilities. The RTMP’s pointer-based, programmable memory-mapping architecture permits the host to map 1553 message data anywhere in the 64K memory space. This advanced memory mapping, along with the RTMP’s control and status functions, minimize the host system’s 1553 interface overhead.

The MA3690/1 chip set has three modes of operation: remote Terminal, Bus controller, and passive monitor It has a dual Bus capability, requires minimum support hardware / software and is implemented on a radiation hard, CMOS/SOS process. For applications requiring access to Terminal Flag, a 48-Pin DIL MA3693 is available as an alternative to the MA3690.
As a remote Terminal, the MA3690/1 is fully compatible with Mil-Std-1553B. The chip set obtained SEAFAC approval in December 1987. All options and mode commands specified by the Mil Std are implemented Full and meaningful use is made of status word bits and a comprehensive bit word is provided.
A unique mechanism has been incorporated that allows the subsystem to declare illegal commands legal, and vice versa, before the chip set services the command. It should be noted that use of this mechanism is optional and that the system defaults to normal operation if the option is not required. The chip set is easily interfaced to subsystem memory and is sufficiently flexible to ensure compatibility with a wide range of microprocessors.
