Introduction

Overview

The Conexant AccessRunner ADSL-USB Modem Device Set combines an “always-on” high speed Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) connection to the telephone line, and Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection to a host PC into a single cost-effective solution. Conexant’s AccessRunner ADSL Modem Device Set is compliant with the full-rate ANSI T1.413 Issue 2 and ITU G.dmt (G.992.1) ADSL standards, and with the splitterless ITU G.lite (G.992.2) specification. This rate-adaptive solution is designed for Customer Premise Equipment and supports downstream data rates of up to 8 Mbps and upstream data rates of up to 1 Mbps.

The Device Set takes advantage of the processing power available with today’s computers by eliminating the need for a separate ATM Segmentation and Reassembly (SAR) Device, resulting in a cost-effective solution suitable for both full rate and G.lite applications. Additionally, host-based software provides support for current industry standards for PPP over ATM (RFC 2364) and bridged Ethernet over ATM (RFC 1483) for Windows 98 and Windows 2000.

The USB specification version 1.1 is supported and is the preferred standard method to connect peripherals to PCs.

During periods of no data transmission, the Conexant ADSL DMT data pump performs idle cell insertion and deletion thus unloading this task from the host PC.

Introduction

Overview

The Conexant® SmartV.XX Modem is a full-featured, worldwide, controller-based Modem that integrates Modem controller (MCU), Modem data pump (MDP), 256 KB ROM, 32 KB RAM, and SmartDAA system side Device (SSD) functions onto a single die.

The Modem operates by executing firmware from internal ROM and RAM. Optional customized firmware is supported with optional external flash ROM memory. General Description
The SmartACFL Device Set, comprised of separate microcontroller (MCU), Modem data pump (MDP), and line side Device (LSD) Devices, provides the processing core for a complete Modem design. The optional Voice Codec (VC) supports voice/full-duplex speakerphone (FDSP) operation with interfaces to a microphone and speaker and to a telephone handSet/headSet (S models). The S model can also be ordered with an RCDSVD Speech Codec Processor (SCP) in a 100-pin PQFP to support DSVD.
Modem operation, including dialing, call progress, telephone line interface, telephone handSet interface, voice/speakerphone interface, and host interface functions are supported and controlled through the V.250, V.251, and V.253-compatible command Set.

Description : HIGH SPEED Modem and FAX FAMILY

INTRODUCTION

The CH2056, CH1799 and CH1794 (HS Modem Family) are industrial grade high-speed Modem modules. Each HS Modem product supports a range of Modem standards and speeds from 300bps to 14,400bps, 28,800bps, 33,600bps or 57,600bps. By using built in compression algorithms the operation speed can be expanded to the maximum DTE rate of 57.6kbps for the CH1794, 115.2kbps for the CH1799 and 230.4kbps for the CH2056. A choice of error correcting schemes is available including MNP 10 for cellular telephone applications. The HS Modem family supports Send and Receive FAX. The CH1799LL operates exclusively on non-voltage bearing leased line.

The HS Modem family is pin compatible with Cermetek’s low cost CH1786 V.22bis, 2400bps Modem family. Each module in the HS Modem family is a self-contained Modem and is FCC Part 68 approved and Canadian DOT approvable. Additionally, the CH1799TBR/ETBR and the CH2056TBR/ETBR products meet the European TBR21 requirements.

These ultra small modules are designed for PCB through-hole mounting and are 1.35” x 1.38” x 0.61” (nominal, 0.55” upon request) in size. The HS Modem family requires only two external interfaces: a CCITT V.24 serial interface for direct access to a UART, and a Tip and Ring RJ-11C Jack for the PSTN line connection. The HS Modem can be controlled with industry standard AT commands and is compatible with available industry communication software.
