DESCRIPTION
The APU3048 IC combines a Dual synchronous Buck Controller and a linear regulator Controller, providing a cost-effective, high performance and flexible solution for multi-output applications. The Dual synchronous Controller is configured as 2-independent PWM Controller.
APU3048 provides a separate adjustable output by driving a switch as a linear regulator.

General Description
The RT9228 is a 3-in-one power Controller optimized for high-performance microprocessor and computer applications. The IC integrates a synchronous buck PWM Controller, a linear regulator, and a linear Controller as well as monitoring and protection functions into a 24-pin SOP package. The PWM Controller regulates the microprocessor core voltage. The linear regulator provides power for the clock driver circuit and the linear Controller regulates power for the GTL bus.

Introduction
This application note describes step-by-step design considerations for a power supply using the FAN480X Controller. The FAN480X combines a PFC Controller and a PWM Controller. The PFC Controller employs average current mode control for Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) boost converter in the front end. The PWM Controller can be used in either current mode or voltage mode for the downstream converter. In voltage mode, feed-forward from the PFC output bus can be used to improve the line transient response of PWM stage. In either mode, the PWM stage uses conventional trailingedge duty cycle modulation, while the PFC uses leadingedge modulation. This proprietary leading/trailing-edge modulation technique can significantly reduce the ripple current of the PFC output capacitor.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The ML4819 is a complete boost mode Power factor Controller (PFC) which also contains a PWM Controller. The PFC circuit is similar to the ML4812 while the PWM Controller can be used for current or voltage mode control for a second stage converter. Since the PWM and PFC circuits share the same oscillator, synchronization of the two stages is inherent. The outputs of the Controller IC provide high current (>1A peak) and high slew rate to quickly charge and discharge MOSFET gates. Special care has been taken in the design of the ML4819 to increase system noise immunity.

The fundamental reason for the rapid change and growth in information technology power requirements is the increase in volume of data processed, stored, transmitted, and displayed. As a result, power requirements have grown very rapidly. To control the increase in power dissipation, operating voltages have been reduced. Power scales as the square of the voltage: cut the voltage in half, and the power dissipation is reduced to one fourth. As circuit output voltages approach the one-volt mark, operating currents are increasing exponentially.
